and then directing people’s energy to
the existing strategies they can support.
OP: What are some of the highlights of
the Right2Know March? Speakers,
events, etc.?
Westgate: The march is going to start
with a very cool scenic walk from the
Flatbush Food Coop in Brooklyn,
across the Brooklyn Bridge to the
United Nations Headquarters in Man-
hattan. We’re going to have a big rally
at the U.N., with some incredible
speakers—Andy Kimbrell(CFS), Anna
Lappé (Small Planet Institute),
Michael Hansen (Consumer’s Union),
Sara Snow (Host of TV show Get
Fresh!), as well as Dr. Alan Greene and
Ashley Koff, R.D.—both of whom are
regularly featured on shows ranging
from Dr. Oz to Good Morning America.
We’ll stop at the NYC GreenFest and
then head to New Jersey for our first night of camping. That’s going to be a big
day! From there, we will be stopping at natural food stores working our way
down the East Coast. Some stores will host rallies and presentations. There will
be yoga every day and great entertainment events put on by the Sustainable Liv-
ing Roadshow.
The Power of the Back of the Box Consumers read labels now more than ever, and many companies like Earth Balance and Nature’s Path are using theirs to spread the non-GMO message.
The whole thing culminates in Washington, D.C., on October 16th, World
Food Day. We reserved Lafayette Park across from the White House—it’s going
to be an ideal time and place to stand up loud and clear for the Right to Know.
